1) What is your favorite MHC tradition? Why?
Laurel Parade, hands down. I love that so many alumnae come back to celebrate our sisterhood, and welcome the seniors into it—beautiful. Add accessories in class colors and Bread and Roses and it’ s unbeatable.

2) Favorite M&C?
Magic cookie bars. Yum!

3) Favorite class? / Favorite professor?
I loved John Grayson, Lenore Carlisle and Fran Deutsch. And though no psych majors will agree with me on this one, I really liked Research Methods, and Fran’s seminar on gender & domestic labor.

4) Favorite spot on campus to unwind? / Your favorite spot on campus?
I liked the docks on Upper Lake for unwinding, and the Mandelles Hill for sledding!

5) What would the you from college be surprised to know about your life today?
She’d be surprised that I’m not teaching, that I’ve taken up distance running, and that I work with power tools every day.

1) What is your favorite MHC tradition? Why?
Elfing!!! Who doesn’t love midnight visitors leaving words of encouragement and tons of distractions at your door just in time for midterms? When I was an elf (and I still elf first tear grad students), I loved making nerdy science games like lady bug checkers out of nutshells, astro-poetry, and sidewalk shoutouts.

2) Favorite M&C?
Carrot sticks- just kidding! I would wander out of the physics lounge or the observatory for the chocolate chip cookies. Nothing like chocolate and sugar to help the brain chug along…

3) Favorite class? / Favorite professor?
Favorite Class: Planetary Science with Darby. Actually any class with Darby was awesome! Darby, Catrina Hamilton, Sean Sutton, and Shubba were the proffessors I still remember and love 🙂 (And not to seem physic/Astronomy heavy I also love and miss: Paul Dobosh, Lisa Ballesteros, Orin, Fawn, and Cindy Morrell)

4) Favorite spot on campus to unwind? / Your favorite spot on campus?
Physics lounge. I lived there. Literally. 🙂

5) What would the you from college be surprised to know about your life today?
I’m married and a mother. Never thought that would happen- ever!!! But I’m so happy that I get to experience this life (outside of Physics), I almost feel normal 😉

1) What is your favorite MHC tradition? Why?
The Laurel Parade is an amazing tradition that exemplifies the journey MHC women have taken and will continue to take in the future. I remember walking that parade on graduation and thinking that this is an experience like no other and so hard to explain how amazing the journey is!

2) Favorite M&C?
That’s a tough one. I loved chocolate chip cookies!

3) Favorite class? / Favorite professor?
My favorite class was “Zen and Japanese Culture” with Professor Yamashita as his approach to learning and life philosophy is amazing! My favorite professor is a hard question as I had three amazing professors that made me fall in love with my double major, Politics and Religion. My favorite professor(s) were Christopher Pyle, Jane Crosthwaite and Tadanori Yamashita. They were all my favorite, especially Jane and Professor Yamashita.

4) Favorite spot on campus to unwind? / Your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus was “The Green” in the Spring/Fall as it was so beautiful! My favorite place to unwind was Upper Lake. It was a great place to walk and relax.

5) What would the you from college be surprised to know about your life today?
I think the surprise would be doing a PhD in International Relations instead of going to Law School!

I’d have to go M and C’s. Not only were they (mostly) yummy, but it gives you a chance to pull your head out of the books and relax for a bit. And to socialize w/ your dorm-mates.

a tie. between Eukaryotic Molecular Genetics with Craig Woodard and Emerging Christian Identities with Michael Penn.

The crunchy ones with the chocolate and coconut on top … according to Rhea these are Magic Cookie bars.

The 5 Question Game by rghosh

§ January 29th, 2011 § Filed under Memories § 5 Comments

1) What is your favorite MHC tradition? Why?
Dis-O! I loved loved loved Dis-O because of my first year when my seniors made me dress up as “Tacky Tacky Princess” and then Adrienne and I stole a Mobil sign. Oh and I think we also either took down everything on the seniors doors in some other dorm or we wallpapered them into their rooms, I don’t quite remember anymore.
These days I’d say Mountain Day because I *still* take it off when I find out early enough.

2) Favorite M&C?
Magic cookie bars!! (This could also just be that’s the only thing I remember from M&Cs)

3) Favorite class? / Favorite professor?
Fave class: Multivariable Calc with these nutty visiting professors that got me into string theory and to declare my physics major. I took it my first year and sat in the back with Jo, Olivia and Sara and we were *the worst* students EVER. It was so much fun.
Fave prof: Ann Murphy (could be because I had a crush on her because she was super hot and smart). She is the reason I declared my philosophy major, she was pretty awesome. I’m still sad that they didn’t hire her on as permanent staff.

4) Favorite spot on campus to unwind? / Your favorite spot on campus?
Physics lounge. Kinda spent all my time there. Pretty sure my friends all knew the number there instead of my actual phone number.
Also, I loved the old Blanchard back when it was dark and the pool tables were upstairs with the couches.

5) What would the you from college be surprised to know about your life today?
That I’ve been in the pride parade for 3 years running and hopefully will continue to be.
